Ravenwerks was born out of two sadists love for crafting. With over 65 years of experience in the BDSM community, they have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to toys for your kit bag.
Raven is a rigger,and a lover of impact play and was always finding that things he bought didn’t always fit the mark for what he wanted, or the quality was poor and fell apart, so he started making his own toys. Over the years, his love of crafting kink toys grew by adding leatherworking into his repertoire. With a background in IT, writing a Phd, and being a frilly goth, Ravenwerks certainly keeps his life full to the brim.
Kitty has been a maker for years. With very craft-orientated parents she was hammering wood as a toddler to keep her amused and then onto sewing as she grew up, developing skills in both theatre costumes and upholstery as well as woodwork. In 2022 she decided to give up the corporate life and go to Uni full-time to study a degree in 3D design and craft to learn more skills to follow her dream to become a full-time maker by learning new and enhancing existing skills. This has also allowed her passion for sustainability and recycling to show through.
So, in 2022 Raven and Kitty decided to take the plunge and combine art and craft together forming Ravenwerks. This was to be a challenge, how would people take to a company that promotes greener kink, or only uses reclaimed and recycled wood? Luckily, we have been so well supported from the very start. The movement towards a greener life in the vanilla world is slowly falling over into the kink world with people becoming aware fo greener, more sustainable and ethically sound options.
You will rarely find 2 of the same of our floggers. We make to the materials available, and not the other way round. If a paddle piece has an imperfection, we either work round it or embrace it – Bring on perfect imperfection! We don’t use CNC cutting for our wooden items. Everything is crafted by hand with our passion that drives our creativity which we hope shows through. We like to sand enough to be smooth but still keep the character of the reclaimed wood. We can always tell you where it was sourced, maybe from a wood hoarder or one of the local recycling stores or luckily now we are often contacted to ask if we would like reclaimed wood.
We are also very careful about our leather. We make sure it is from a sustainable source, that the merchant knows the history of its origin, so we can be sure we are not contributing to any modern slavery. Our sheepskin is sourced via a waste valorisation scheme in Cheltenham. again this is all checked for sourcing so we can be as sustainable as possible.
As other ranges are brought on stream, we will always be conscious of our ethos for a greener world of kink.
